Day 7
Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness (Psalm 107:8-9).
Sabbath is a way of worshiping the Lord. When we rest in Him, we thank Him for sustaining us. Not only did He create us, He continually makes a way, guiding us through every day. Nothing is too small or too big for Him. In every season and every situation, He is our source, our hope, our joy. He never changes. He never grows weary and his mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23). We serve a generous Father who wants us to live in fellowship with Him. What a gift we have in our God and what a precious gift it is to share in the Sabbath rest that He Himself enjoyed.

Even amidst challenges we know that God is good, that He is for us and not against us and in every situation, works all things together for the good of those who love Him. Our hope is secure because it rests in the God who never changes. He is immovable but He is not unmoved; He is a compassionate and caring God who deeply loves His children. In Sabbath rest we lean into the promise of His goodness and trust that when we stop, He keeps working on our behalf. Sabbath is therefore an opportunity to lay down our longings at his feet and to allow Him to fill us with His presence. He is the God that fills every empty place that is surrendered to Him. By making space on the Sabbath day, we make space for Him to come and fill.
Ponder:
What good things has God given you that you can think on today? What emptiness do you need Him to fill?
Think about all the ways He has sustained you before and reassure yourself with the knowledge that He will do so again.
Prayer:
Dear heavenly Father, I declare that You are my Sabbath rest. In You I have all that I need. You are the Bread of Life, the water that satisfies my thirst forever, the well that never runs dry. I lift my hands and I lift up Your Name today in worship of all that You are. I declare that You are enough for me. Thank you that in every situation, You are working on my behalf and that I can be confident that when I lay down and rest, You surround me with Your presence. I love You Lord and I am so grateful to be loved by You. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
